𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 – 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭

69% 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐍𝐖𝐈𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 retain the same financial services relationships 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭s have.
The just released AFFLUENTIAL whitepaper, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 – 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭”, found that only 31% of younger wealthy clients intend to stay with their parents’ financial institution by default.
Analyzing data from the 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐬™ 2026/27, which interviewed over 620 Next Generation and Silver Generation HNWIs across Hong Kong, Singapore, Mainland China and the UAE, the whitepaper shows that the Next Gen behavior is driven not by what most private banks and insurance brands assume. Fees barely register. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 and the 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 are driving the shift instead.
Institutions still operating on the assumption that relationships transfer automatically across generations are exposed, regardless of how strong those relationships once were.
Financial services firms that offer a combination of 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬, not product sellers, will be the ones that convert inherited relationships into retained clients.
